[OpenAFS] OAFS 1.0.4a SMP with a stock RedHat 2.4.3-12smp kernel ?

Hi All, 

is there anybody there who managed to build a *working* OAFS 1.0.4a on a
stock RedHat 2.4.3-12smp kernel? Build ends up cleanly, but, while on a
single processor all works like a marvel, on SMP any operation hangs
forever.

We are now aware about many successful SMP stories on up-to-2.4.5 kernels,
but always with the build done with the net kernel source from kernel.org,
not with an official RH 2.4.3-12...
