Even while the AFS cache manager is running, it's perfectly safe to remove
the CacheItems file. This will not affect the running cache manager at
all, but is sufficient to cause all cached data to be flushed at the next

While AFS is running, it is _not_ safe to remove the V* files, or to empty
the CacheItems file as Nathan describes above. Either of these actions
has the potential to hang your AFS client, crash your machine, or cause
other bad effects.
