[OpenAFS] Installing AFS on a linux box

Hi friends
i am trying to install AFS server and AFS Client on a linux box. I am
following the installation guide provided at

when i am creating admin and afs users using 
# kas -cell < cellname> -noauth 
ka> create afs 
then i am providing password. 
now i am getting this error message: 
creating user afs: [___] server or network not responding. 
This is first machine i am installing AFS and i want to retain both server
and client functionality on this machine. (for some time atleast). 
can anybody help me in this regard. Can anybody tell me why i am getting
this error and how 
can i sort it out?
