Ok, what do you get from:
        bos status <linux-server> -long -no

How about:
        udebug <linux-server> 7003

Note that you cannot turn off the Sun server until you move the
volumes to the new server.

Um, this is certainly a problem -- it means that the VLDB does not
know about root.afs!

Ok, so something is really being fishy here...  I assume that
"servertest" is your Sun box.  Can you walk through (step-by-step) the
process you did to setup the Linux box as an AFS server in this cell?
Leave no step out of your response, please.
