look with dmesg , i assume you afs module oops'd

please send output of df -k , mount and your client conf , i assume you
have no ext3 or ext2 filesystem , so you need memcache ..

Hi Sven

thanks..

I made a symbolic link in /usr/local/etc called openafs pointing to
/usr/vice/etc.

Now when I start the afs service.. it seems to kinda stall/freeze...

here'where it stops.
[root@oort etc]# service afs start
(node 1)
Found libafs-2.4.22-1.2199.nptl_ssi_9smp.mp.o from SymTable... Loading...
Starting AFS services.....

here are the afs processes running:
[root@oort etc]# ps -eaf | grep afs
root 69895 69085 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00 /bin/sh
/sbin/service afs start
root 69903 69895 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00 onclass initnode
/etc/init.d/afs start
root 69904 69903 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00 /bin/sh
/etc/init.d/afs start
root 69921 69904 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00
/usr/vice/etc/afsd -stat 2000 -dcache 800 -daemons 3 -volumes 70
root 69922 69921 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00 [afsd] <defunct>
root 69923 69921 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00 [afsd] <defunct>
root 69925 69921 0 12:47 pts/1 00:00:00 [afsd] <defunct>
root 69935 69761 0 12:58 pts/2 00:00:00 grep afs

Ron

>>> Sven Oehme <oehmes@de.ibm.com> 08/03/05 12:19 PM >>>
in /usr/local/etc/openafs

you need a cacheinfo file like :

cat cacheinfo
/afs:/var/cache/openafs:10000

you need ThisCell and a CellServDB file ..

[OpenAFS] Starting OpenAFS on OpenSSI

Hello all,

So I can compile everything now, and I can even load the libafs module.

I don't know for sure, but it seems when I configured OpenAFS before I
compiled it that I might have misconfigured something BUT I don't know
what.

below is what happens when I start the afs service.

[root@oort root]# service afs start
(node 1)
Found libafs-2.4.22-1.2199.nptl_ssi_9smp.mp.o from SymTable... Loading...
Starting AFS services.....
afsd: some file missing or bad in /usr/local/etc/openafs

Ron
