[OpenAFS] AFS_VMA_CLOSE errors

	Hello ,

I am running an openafs linux client 1.3,.77 with linux 2.4.28 on
a modified slackware 8. My cell has two afs servers one 1.2.13 and one
1.3.74 , both gentoo linux. The (rw)volume I access all the time is
located in the 1.3.74 server. I am perfoming several read operations on
files, with most of them being 600-700 Mbytes iso images, 24h per day with
a transfer rate between 1 to 4 Mbytes/second.  Occasionaly I write on it a few
tenths of files varying from 500Kb to 30-40 Mbytes.

Since 1.3.77 I get in my logs messages like this all the time :

AFS_VMA_CLOSE(4450): Skipping Already locked vcp=c4787f3c vmap=c4787f48
AFS_VMA_CLOSE(4450): Skipping Already locked vcp=c4787f3c vmap=c4787f48
AFS_VMA_CLOSE(5196): Skipping Already locked vcp=d968df3c vmap=d968df48
AFS_VMA_CLOSE(3084): Skipping Already locked vcp=d6375f3c vmap=d6375f48

The system will eventually freeze after around 7-10 days of uptime. It
will respond to ping but to nothing else. It seems that at some random
point the load will go up to 300+ and then  total freeze occurs. If I
spot it on time I can kill all processes accessing afs and the freeze is
avoided. However the afs directory structure is corrupted , I can access
only a small subset of the files and that in wrong locations. Even without
any process left accessing afs it wont umount, with the message that the
device is busy. A reboot brings everying back to normal.

I am starting afsd with -stat 6000 and -chunksize 19 , with 6 Gb cache on
an ext3 partition.

    I am not sure if those errors are related to the freezing issue or
what they mean in the first place.  I would like some advice.
