[OpenAFS] crypt security question

Hi,

I'm trying to understand a little more about the crypt security option 
in OpenAFS.  If it is enabled (on the windows client), does it "request" 
that option from the servers?  So if the servers don't support it, no 
harm is done?  Or if its turned off on the servers, will it enable crypt 
if the client requests it?  How can I tell if it is being used by the 
client or not (like if the request suceeded or failed)?  I searched in 
the release notes first and didn't see much about it. :-)
