Hi!

I try to setup a new database server (the third) for our cell on 1.3.79
AFS and debian sarge.

I can setup openafs to obtain tokens, get data, browse AFS tree and I
even managed to setup a fileserver on that machine.
Now I tried to setup a vlserver and a ptserver on that machine.
All I get on a bos status afsmaster is:
Instance ptserver, temporarily disabled, stopped for too many errors,
currently shutdown.
Instance vlserver, temporarily disabled, stopped for too many errors,
currently shutdown.

And in log of ptserver is:
ptserver: problems with host name Ubik init failed
^Mrimary address
Sun Mar 13 00:13:32 2005 Inconsistent Cell Info on server: Sun Mar 13
00:13:32 2005 134.169.37.XXX Sun Mar 13 00:13:32 2005

So, there is a problem with host name.

Fileserver log got the correct IP and name for the afsmaster server. And
the afsmaster is in the DNS database, so it can be resolved.
The CellServ and the key File and so on were copied before from the XXX
original machine, so there can?t be a problem with incosistent Cell
info, I assume, also no typos...
Is the hostname with 9 letters to long for ubik?
Or is it a problem, that the new server IP is "lower" than the other
both working database servers?

Thx,
Lars
