[OpenAFS] possibly stupid question: why can't AFS serve "normal" directories like samba/nfs?

We're getting there.  I really am willing to commit the time to writing
man pages for every command in the OpenAFS distribution, and plan on
starting work on that in November when I get back from vacation.
Hopefully 1.4.0 will have been released at that point.
