Hi--
I'm seeing the following in the system event logs with OpenAFS 1.4.1 and
1.5.2 on Windows XP SP2 --
Date: 7/17/2006
Time: 4:44:07 PM
Type: Warning
User: N/A
Computer: VIOLET
Source: MRxSmb
Category: None
EventID: 3019
Description:
The redirector failed to determine the connection type.
(followed by the usual For more information link)
I can cause one of these at will by accessing AFS via a UNC path.
In the following example:
Start->Run
\\afs\cs.wisc.edu
fs trace output: /afs/cs/u/t/i/timc/public/afsd.log-0607171643
Any other debugging info happily provided -- this one happens on my
test workstation.
I can't tell if these messages are indicative of some sort of configuration
issue on this end or something else. It's the message found in the event
viewer when on various workstations when the AFS client fails. 'Course,
they're also numerous on workstations where the AFS client isn't failing,
too.
I'd like to be able to provide debugging info on the random client problem,
but either the user hits reset before I find out or the workstation is
in an unuseable state when I get there -- explorer has died, the AFS
service claims to be running and explorer hangs when I access anything in
AFS and fs trace gives zero output, can't run filemon because it's in AFS,
etc.
Thanks--
