Yes, I didn't mean to be unclear.  The problem I'm having is with a
2.6.18 system building 1.4.2.  

The other reference (2.6.17.13 and 1.4.1) is to the last version that
managed to get working.  I'm just trying to upgrade, and for those
systems that use AFS, I can't upgrade the kernel until I can get AFS
running with it.
