Hi,
=20
First of all I many thanks Simon and everyone who helped with
information regarding evaluating OpenAFS. On review, I decided to
create a test environment using CentOS5 (OpenAFS 1.4.14) following the
instructions from=20
=20
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-openafs-kerberos
5/index.html
=20
=20
Everything was working as per instructions until I got to the section
=E2=80=9CAdding keys to be used by AFS=E2=80=9D. When I issue the comman=
d
=20
/usr/afs/bin/asetkey add 2 /etc/krb5.keytab.afs
afs/krb5afs.geotate.local I get an error
=20
[root@openafs01 etc]# /usr/afs/bin/asetkey add 2 /etc/krb5.keytab.afs
afs/krb5afs.geotate.local
/usr/afs/bin/asetkey: unknown RPC error (-1765328154) while extracting
AFS service key
=20
=20
If I run listkeys I get
[root@openafs01 etc]# /usr/afs/bin/bos listkeys $SERVERNAME -cell
$CELLNAME
bos: a pioctl failed (getting tickets)
bos: running unauthenticated
All done.
=20
And
klist -kte /etc/krb5.keytab.afs
Keytab name: FILE:/etc/krb5.keytab.afs
KVNO Timestamp Principal
---- -----------------
--------------------------------------------------------
3 06/06/11 16:30:50 afs/krb5afs.geotate.local@VMKRB5 (DES cbc mode
with CRC-32)
4 06/07/11 10:44:35 afs/krb5afs.geotate.local@VMKRB5 (DES cbc mode
with CRC-32)
5 06/07/11 10:44:50 afs/krb5afs.geotate.local@VMKRB5 (DES cbc mode
with CRC-32)
=20
This is the second installation I have tried and I get the same result.=20
=20
The CentOS is running VMWare ESXI.
=20
Any help would be appreciated,
=20
Kind regards=20

Hi,
=20
We are looking to evaluate OpenAFS and were wondering where the best
place to get initial version / platform information. We would like to
test OpenAFS on CentOS or Debian but are not sure which versions of the
application to install and which OS is preferable. The stable release on
the openafs website points to 1.4.14 but there is also a feature
realease 1.5.78 and in addition to that a test release, 1.6.
=20
Can anyone help,
=20
Kind regards=20
