[OpenAFS] AFS cell without AFSDB?

It's a test cell for my corporation; it will only be around for a few 
weeks, and regardless, none of our AFS servers will ever be exposed to 
the outside world anyway. It's strictly for our internal call center 
operation.

Updating the DNS record for the DB servers seems to have solved the problem.
