I won't flood people with lots of blow-by-blow details, but at the
moment I strongly suspect it is something wrong with the specific
machine I'm trying to move volumes back to.  I just moved over 500
volumes from the "temp" file server to a different file server which
was already upgraded to OpenAFS 1.6.20.1, and there were no problems.
