From my testing, while the loginLogout plugin doesn't get tokens
correctly under Leopard at login time, it does get them for you when
you initiate a kinit from the cli or get a new ticket via the
Kerberos application.
Is that consistent with what you saw?

I just got another similar mds hang (10.4). Does that command have to
be executed again after each reboot? Or does it not work properly on
10.4 for afs?

I'm on 10.4.11, just installed OpenAFS-1.5.30-Tiger, and get a kernel panic
instantly upon AFS startup
org.openafs.filesystems.afs(1.5.30)@0x3b027000
The panic summary is at http://www6.covert.org/kp080121.txt
It was necessary to safe boot and rename
/Library/StartupItems/OpenAFS/OpenAFS in order to get
past this problem.

If someone wants to decode one of these, I can deal with it sooner.
Otherwise, and regardless, you'll note we're still recommending 1.4.x for
MacOS.

That has eliminated the problem, and I appreciate your quick reply. I wish
there were a warning on the page at
http://www.openafs.org/release/openafs-1.5.30.html suggesting that 10.4
users wait a bit.

I wish someone would decode the panic, so i could just fix it. it would
probably take about as long to fix as it would to update the web page.
openafs-1.5.30.html shouldn't be linked from "latest stable" anyway, nor as
recommended from the macos x page.

Has anyone else had panic problems on startup of OpenAFS 1.5.28 on Mac
OS X 10.5.1? I installed it over a working 1.4.5 setup and haven't
been successful in getting it to work yet. The only thing I've
changed off of the defaults was disabling spotlight indexing. The
panic file suggests that the mds process was involved in the panic.
