Greetings,
This is my first status update to the group as the newly drafted co-chair of
our afs3 standardization group. Intend on making a brief status post to this
list at the end of each month, summarizing the progress we have made, and
suggesting priorities, as I understand the current consensus.
1. EAKC Presentation
At the EAKC conference on October 17, 2012, in Edinburgh, I gave a general
update on the documents we have produced in this group, and presented goals as
a chair.
Chair Goals
* Significantly better shepherding of documents
* Significantly better at call for consensus
* Clear definition of areas subject to standardization
* Clear definition of work-flows
* Clear reporting of document status and outstanding issues
* Monthly status updates
* Better support for authors; i.e. tools and templates
The slides are available at:

2. AFS3 Stds repository
As announced, the web site for hosting approved documents and related
information is now available on grand.central.org.
http://afs3-stds.central.org
/afs/grand.central.org/www/afs3-stds.central.org/
/afs/grand.central.org/www/afs3-stds.central.org/docs (approved docs)
A separate status page has been created to track the progress of draft documents;
http://afs3-stds.central.org/drafts.html
Please direct comments, suggestions, and error reports to me at
mmeffie@sinenomine.net.
3. Active Drafts: rxgk
Simon Wilkinson had made updates to the rxgk draft (post -02), and Ben Kaduk
has been making a number of changes to this document. Work is in progress to
complete revision 03 of this important Internet-Draft.
Everyone interested in AFS3 is encouraged to participate in the review and
discussion on this mailing list. Changes targeted to the 03 version to the
draft are currently being tracked by Ben in github.

4. Pending Drafts
The following documents will be scheduled for review, or a timed last call
before advancing to AFS3-stds Experimental status. At this time I would ask
the group to direct attention to the active rxgk work, before we revive the
pending drafts:
