idec doesnt seem to need libsys.a but iopen, iread, icreate and istat
but if you used $LIBS instead of $XLIBS that would pick it up.  of course
i have no idea what else this would do (btw, some link lines say $LIBS
$XLIBS, yet $XLIBS is explicitly in $LIBS)
