[OpenAFS-devel] Problems with OpenAFS on Alpha Linux

Right,

with OpenAFS 1.2.4 the file creation problems have vanished, but still 
one user
can authenticate (by chance) while others cannot (no mistypings, e. g.
 use the -password switch on klog).

sizeof(long) is 8, so this should be OK. But the README in the source 
directory
says

...
   alpha_linux22 (DES does not work, will require one more change to
                                compile)
...

Compile it did though, but apparently to wrongly working encryption ...
what exactly do I need to do to diagnose what is going wrong in
src/des/crypt.c?
