As you'll discover when you get this resolved, you want 1.2.4 (since I

what arguments did you run afsd with? is the information in CellServDB
correct (i assume so)?

the other thing to try is (on the client) tcpdump -vv -s 1500 port 7001
and see if the client appears to be talking to what you think it should be
