How hard would it be to make a read-only file server?

i.e. Have a flag that tells a particular file server that no matter what
the permissiosn on the acl's say, do not allow any file server based
updates.

I would want to continue to allow volserver updates however.=20

The intent is to create a fully online backup server, but to only allow
read-only access to the backups. Similar to OldFiles, but going back for
an extended period.=20
