That's correct.
 
I was finally able to build the needed module for the -19.8.0smp kernel by 
installing that kernel on the RH8 box that previously worked and building 
it there.  I still have no idea why it fails on the new system.  The only 
difference is that one was installed as a workstation and the new one was 
installed as a server.
