Something ("configure"?) picked "/usr/ccs/bin/ld" for me.

# /usr/ccs/bin/ld -V
ld: Software Generation Utilities - Solaris Link Editors: 5.9-1.276

gcc will certainly not work for Solaris kernel stuff.
