[OpenAFS-devel] klog not connecting, /afs not mounting, v1.3.71

I am lost as where to even begin in tracing this behavior, but essentially
klog cannot connect to a remote kdc server (although the krb5 kinit does),
and afsd runs, loads, but cannot mount the filesystem. I have made the /afs
directory, run afsd as root, and the cache directory (in my
case /var/cache/afs) begins to fill up with seemingly useful data. I have
setup the CellServDB and ThisCell files appropriately. To give you an idea,
I am compiling version 1.3.71 with gcc-3.4.0, kernel 2.6.8.1, and sanitized
kernel headers in /usr/include.

Thanks,
Greg

I get the following from dmesg:
libafs: module license 'unspecified' taints kernel.
Failed to find address of sys_call_table
Starting AFS cache scan...found 0 non-empty cache files (0%).

This is what caused that:

$ /usr/sbin/afsd -stat 2000 -dcache 800 -daemons 3 -volumes 70
-cachedir /var/cache/afs -mountdir /afs
afsd: All AFS daemons started.
afsd: Can't mount AFS on /afs(22)
