Euh...  I bet he meant with big MTUs. Turning jumbograms off on a 
standard Ethernet MTU actually degrades performance, just tested:

107 MB/s -> 94 MB/s (admittedly a quick, non-scientific test, on 
Andrei Maslennikov's hardware, GigE, MTU 1500).
