News

1.6.x series
============

Stephan merged everything foreseen for 1.6.23pre1 as discussed last week.
(except NEWS and version strings)

Discussion on the very old gerrit 11706, which recently came up for review
since it is not -2'd and not abandoned. 11706 fixes one known bug when the
deprecated -settime feature is enabled. There are known bugs in that deprecated
feature and it has been removed in 1.8.x.  For now the fix in 11706 will not be
merged since we do not want to encourage use of that deprecated feature. Stephan
will mark 11706 with -2.

1.8.x series
============

The time64 change for 4.18 has been merged. No other changes this week.

Ben reports 1.8.1 final is in debian testing (as well as unstable). No bug
reports have been filed.  No changes have been made for freebsd yet.

Joe should be available to test 1.8.x with Linux 4.18 final this week. If it
checks out, we want to release 1.8.1.1 and 1.6.22.n+1 for Linux 4.18.

Ben is in the process of transferring admin rights in Gerrit to Stephan for
the openafs-stable-1_8_x branch.

master
======

Mike will rebase the solaris-warning topic patches since the merge order is not
clear after the last round of gerrit reviews and updates. At least one of those
changes is known to fix a panic seen on Solaris SPARC.  The solaris kstat
feature should be merged after the solaris-warning fixes, since it depends on
the fixed rx-atomics.

buildbot
========

Mike posted a note to openafs-devel about the buildbot transition. The master
configuration has mostly be converted.
