Back when we (RPI) first started using AFS, we also used the
NFS/AFS translator for some platforms.  Our experience with
it was not particularly wonderful.  I wouldn't plan to use it
for anything, based on our experience.  It's just too hard to
try to map things from the AFS universe through one machine
(the NFS server machine) to a whole bunch of NFS clients,
and get everything to work out correctly.

I realize your configuration may make an NFS/AFS translator
seem like an attractive thing to do, I'm just saying that it
did not work out as well in practice as one might like it to.
Or at least, it did not work out well for us.
