Just got a new IP (while writing this mail :) ) and tried again:

=3D=3D=3D begin xterm1 =3D=3D=3D
root@cube:/home/sascha# /etc/init.d/afs stop
Stopping AFS services.....=20
inetd.afs: no process killed
root@cube:/home/sascha# lsmod

root@cube:/home/sascha# /etc/init.d/afs start

afsd: All AFS daemons started.
=3D=3D=3D end xterm1 =3D=3D=3D

=3D=3D=3D begin xterm2 =3D=3D=3D
sascha@cube:~$ ls $AFSHOME
ls: /afs/informatik.uni-tuebingen.de/home/silbe: Connection timed out
=3D=3D=3D end xterm2 =3D=3D=3D
