What version of the IBM client are you running?  With 3.6_2.5 we had service
failures every 1 or  days.  Transarc provided us with a 3.6_2.6 patch which
we have been using for a couple of months (holding off on the 3.6_2.14
release and 2.18 until a convenient maintenance window).  Since applying the
patch we haven't had major crash problems (still once in a while; but, much
less frequent).
