The Computer has 128 MB RAM. I use 6144 KB for memcache. Could there
be some kinds of boundaries?

Because 
dd if=/dev/zero  of=/afs/rz/somewhere bs=2048k count=2 works
(Transfered size < Cachesize)
whereas
dd if=/dev/zero  of=/afs/rz/somewhere bs=2048k count=3 fails.

But the same thing with bs=1024k count=10 works, too...
