The AFSLore Wikie page WWWtoAFS[1] gives a way to do this, namely,
    http://lost-contact.mit.edu/afs/net/project/afs32/<cell>/<rest>

So /afs/umr.edu/software/krb5src/ would be
    http://lost-contact.mit.edu/afs/net/project/afs32/umr.edu/software/krb5src/
