Thanks to immediate help by Michael Aldrich, Derek Atkins and
Derrick J Brashear, I finally got it running - oh dear!

Some problems were

due to a too quick reinstall I did
configure --enable-transtec-paths
                        ^^^ <<<<< typos
Unfortunately configure didn't warn me as I'm
used to with configure of other packages.

afs needed a
127.0.0.2 entry in my /etc/hosts

I needed two more entries in my
/etc/services file

kerberos5 88/udp

and

kerberos 750/udp

and because of previous trials my
/vicepa
was in inconsistent state
I did rm -rf /vicepa/*
and lateron again
vos create FILESERVER a root.cell

Happily now it seems to work

The complete archiv of this mailing list
was a big help.

Thanks to all!

Helmut.
