[OpenAFS] Help - Failed to load AFS client

Strangely, this appears to have no stopped AFS. try:
umount /afs
/usr/vice/etc/afsd -shutdown
lsmod | grep libafs
rmmod <whatever the name of the libafs module is>
Then check if AFS is still running..

PS: 'ps' is one way.. another thing to check is 'mount'
