Here is one possibility,
UNC-CH uses a kind of network access restriction based on network card =
MAC address filtering. If you are not registered, it may appear that you =
have a good connection, when you actually do not. Go to onyen.unc.edu, =
select DHCP registration, and verify that your MAC address(es) has been =
registered.
