[OpenAFS] kernel version - how is it found out?

Hi,

I have a strange problem here, I can't explain.

Upto this morning I had openafs-1.2.7 running under Linux 2.4.20-rc1
This morning I upgraded to 2.4.20 (final release) and uname -a
clearly tells this.
I have unpacked openafs-1.2.7.tar.bz2 freshly, made a fresh
configure and still it builds  libafs-2.4.20-rc1.mp.o

Is this a glitch of the new Linux kernel or does openafs use some
old information of a previous installation?
