don't mix 3.4 servers into a cell of 3.5/3.6/openafs servers.

run any clients you want.

there are certain cases where the administrative commands (e.g. vos) had
changes, but 
1) i don't remember what they are
2) it's not worth worrying about unless you have a problem, because it
will fail rather than ruining data
