[OpenAFS] Redhat Kernel Problems

I am trying to install openafs on a redhat 7.3 with 2.4.18 and XFS support .
If I get the src.rpm  and rebuild it towards whatever kernel installed
shouldn't it be sufficient to overcome
such a problem .
