[OpenAFS] AFS from NFS Mount

So the only way I could run (theoretically) a fileserver over nfs is by 
using a namei fileserver?

Also, any good info out there on what namei is and why we should use it? 
I know it's been discussed at length on this list, but with a lot of 
those discussions a lot of background knowledge seemed to be assumed. 
 I've googled around a lot but have found nothing fundamentally explanatory.
