[OpenAFS] Migration from AFS v3.4

I have inherited an AFS installation that is running Transarc AFS version 
3.4 and I am anxious (as you might expect) to migrate it to OpenAFS.  I
understand that there are differences in the database formats between AFS
versions 3.4 and >=3.5/OpenAFS which require going via AFS version 3.5.
Can someone confirm that and warn me of any likely problems that I might
see ?  I do not think that I have AFS 3.5 or any documentation for it
available, so any help with that would be useful as well.
