[OpenAFS] backupsys failing

Vos backupsys is failing on one of my Linux fileservers with the
following message.

Total volumes backed up: 0; failed to backup: 0

A -dryrun does not give any volume list that would have been recloned. 
I'm running this successfully on six other servers.  OpenAFS 1.2.10, my
own rebuild.  Any ideas?
