[OpenAFS] OpenAFS extremely poor performance on Solaris server

Sometimes RAID can slow down a file server quite a bit, as the RAID
controller has to do lots of read-modify-write cycles. The usual first
attack on slowness would be to ensure that whole stripes are written at
a time, but I'm not sure offhand on how to do this with an AFS server.
You might try moving your /viceXX data to a normal UFS partition and see
if that speeds it up any before pursuing the RAID performance problem
further.
