[OpenAFS] Can't CD to /afs

hi,

So I am new to AFS. I think I have just setup afs on my
server, and on the same server I was going to test the
client. I start the server and client but can't cd to
/afs

-bash-2.05b$ cd /afs/
-bash: cd: /afs/: Permission denied

And for some reason it shows /afs as being 8G:
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1             5.0G  4.1G  702M  86% /
/dev/hda2             687M  224M  428M  35% /home
none                   62M     0   61M   0% /dev/shm
/dev/loop0            189M   28K  179M   1% /vicepa
AFS                   8.6G     0  8.5G   0% /afs


Any help would be appreciated.
