Well, what do you mean "primary server"?  All the core AFS
services (volume location, protection, etc) are replicated as
well.  As long as you have three, then any one server going down
will not affect those services.

As for file services, the only files that will be affected
by a server outage are the ReadWrite volumes on that server.
Clients will go to other servers for ReadOnly clones.  But
for those read-write volumes you would need to rebuild them.

AFS has no concept of "primary" or "slave" servers.

Again, terminology issue...  I don't know what you mean
because your terminoogy makes on sense in the AFS context.

You run "vos release" to "release" data from the RW to the RO clones.
You can set up a cron job to do this, or you can do it by hand.
