[OpenAFS] nfs > afs xlator

I have an AFS 3.6 Client configured and wanted to enable the nfs
translator. I set afsd to load the libafs.o instead of the
libafs.nonfs.o kernel module and rebooted. I can export and mount to a
non afs machine the top level afs filesystem /afs.

I am not able to mount the secondary level or any of the directories
under that explicitly from the nfs client even though they are being
exported. From the AFS Admin Guide;

Its NFS server functionality makes it possible for the translator
machine to export the AFS filespace to NFS client machines. When a user
on an NFS client machine mounts the translator machine's /afs directory
(or one of its subdirectories, if that feature is enabled), access to
AFS is immediate and transparent. The NFS client machine does not need
to run any AFS software.

This seems to indicate that I CAN mount subdirectories. The comment "if
that feature is enabled" bothers me. Is this enabled in some other way?

Thanks in advance,
