[OpenAFS] how to increase space

I didn't install it - someone else at my work did. It's running on AIX 4.3.
So in order to upgrade, will the make install know not to overwrite my 
config files, or should I copy the binaries myself? If so which binaries? 
Just those in /usr/afs/bin ?
