no , it=B4s not possible under aix , just under linux ... (as far as i know)

you can also leave the client running without reboot.
i just don=B4t know the side effects off running an old Client=20
on the same System with an new Server. on the other hand old Clients=20
work perfectly with new servers , so a reboot should not be needed .

> > > >hy ,
> > > >
> > > >okay , then you need an inode based version of the Files=
erver
...
> > > >i think (but not sure , cause i always compile by myself
) the AIX
> >Package
> > > >on www.openafs.org is NAMEI based , because there is
no AFS Version of
> >the
> > > >v3fshelper in that package . so you should download
the source package
> >and
> > > >compile it with --enable-transarc-paths --enable-fast-re=
start
this
> >should
> > > >generate a inode based Version .
> > > >
> > > >maybe somebody on the List better knows , if it`s INODE
based or not.
> > > >
> > > >after that , you just have to replace the old binarys
in /usr/afs/bin,
> > > >/usr/vice/etc and the /sbin/helpers/v3fshelper with
the new Versions
> >and
> > > >it should work .
> > > >
> > > >Sven
> > >
> > >
> > > Sven - I really appreciate your help. Thanks very much.
> > > Do I need to restart anything once I've copied over the

> >
> >no Problem ...
> >
> >if you also use a client on the server , you should reboot your

> >if you just use it as a Server just bos restart "Servername&q=

> >
> >that`s it ..
> >
> >Sven
>
> I'd really like to avoid the reboot if possible because this is a
