OK; I looked at the dump you posted.
The data for vnode 1 does indeed include an extra 16-bit data item tagged 
'D', between the server date and ACL.  I've never heard of this tag and 
have no idea what it means.  I do not think marvin is running a stock 
OpenAFS 1.2.7 volserver.  I suggest you send the output of

rxdebug marvin 7005 -version

which will indicate the actual version of the running volserver.
