Salvaging a partition will cause the AFS fileserver process to shut down
during the salvage operation -- making everything on that fileserver
unavailable.

If you'd prefer not to shut down the fileserver there are other things to
try first.

1. The volume you were moving may exist on both the source partition and
the target partition. If so, make sure the VLDB entry refers to the volume
on the source partition, and that this volume is online. vos zap the volume
on the target partition
2. Use vos backupsys to make sure all .backup volumes are in their initial
(smallest) state
3. vos release any RO clones (RO on same server and partition as read
write) to make sure the clone is in its initial (smallest) state
4. Look for an RO that you can delete. That is 1) an RO that is not a clone
and 2) exists on at least one other server.

you should salvage the Filesystem that is full .. this should free up some
space of the not completed volume moves ..

Subject [OpenAFS] Partition full when moving volume

During moving a large volume to server, the free space on fileservers
fell to 0 and the transaction stopped. Now I can't do almost anything
with AFS. On this server we also have the RW version of root.afs and
  root.cell.
How do I get out of such situation? Ie. how can I free up some space? I
tried to move some big volumes to different fileserver with lots of
space, but the operation cannot be performed.

  Thank you
