I tried :

[root@sggs root]# /usr/sbin/tcpdump -i wlan0 port 7004
tcpdump: listening on wlan0

1 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel

Could my firewall be interfering with this ( I did not know that port
7004 was needed for this) ?

> also, strace -p (pid of kaserver) and see if it's hung or not.

I will try this once I eliminate the firewall as a suspect.
