Failed volume replications sometimes leave the volume locked.  Volume
replication sometimes fails for a variety of reasons, usually transient
network timeouts or transient timeouts in the volserver.  We've worked
around this for many years here; hopefully the multi-threaded volserver
will cause it to happen far less.
