[OpenAFS] erasing a previous version

Um, are these the distributed RPMs or ones you built yourself?
Which openafs-kernel RPM(s) did you install?
I admit that this is a weird error. What do you get from:
file /lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1378_FC3/kernel/fs/openafs/openafs.ko
> [root@aboba init.d]# uname -a
